Mesh controllers
Overview
The VE209 is a family of high performance Mesh Controllers, designed to serve as the
main building blocks of a VEmesh unit – Gateway or Node.
VEmesh units are the elements of VEmesh wireless networks, designed and
optimized for mesh topology, to provide a highly reliable bi-directional
communication and the best-in-class range and coverage for distributed
monitoring and data collection of sensor and metering systems, for a
large range of applications.
A VEmesh mesh wireless network typically
contains one gateway and a number of nodes. All VEmesh nodes act as
relays - in addition to their own activity, i.e. retransmitting other
unit's data in order to create a modular solution with no practical limitation
to the number of nodes and to the coverage area.
All the members of the VE209 Mesh Controllers have the necessary
internal building blocks for performing all the interfaces and network management;
together with a transceiver chip, they form the
core of a VEmesh unit. The flexibility of VE209 Mesh Controllers
enables them to connect to all suitable leading transceiver chips
on the market and to connect directly to a large variety of I/O
interfaces, ranging from dry contact switching through RS232 to
MODBUS and TCP/IP.

The available versions of firmware correspond
to different transceiver chips and types of interface, and can be also
customized as required, i.e. to proprietary interfaces or network modes of
operation. Since each of the transceiver chips has different capabilities, such
as transmission power, power consumptions and dynamic range, the use of the
VE209 two-chip chipset solution provides a large variety of alternatives to Mesh network
designers.
